  Alanex Corporation (acquired by Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. which was acquired by Pfizer, Inc.) is engaged in the discovery of drug leads through the high-speed screening of diverse chemical libraries designed by computational methods and generated by combinatorial chemistry. Alanex utilizes proprietary software to design either broad or highly targeted combinatorial libraries of molecules that can readily be synthesized in large numbers. Alanex is presently conducting research projects aimed at discovery of drugs for such therapeutic indications as pain, diabetes, obesity, anxiety, and certain malignant tumors.


Angstrom Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Ångstrom Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a venture-backed pharmaceutical company. Ångstrom’s proprietary products target a clearly-defined pathway, the Urokinase Plasminogen Activation System (PA), which has repeatedly been shown in scientific literature to be directly involved in proliferative diseases, such as cancer and wet age-related macular degeneration (ARMD).   Clinical Micro Sensors, Inc (acquired by Motorola, Inc, then acquired by Osmetech) The core technology of CMS is electro-chemical detection. CMS has for a number of years been developing a low cost and easy to use instrument and consumable as well as developing assays to enable this technology to be used in the field of complex genetic diagnostics testing.

Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research, Part of the Novartis Research Foundation Founded in 1970, the Friedrich Miescher Institute is devoted to fundamental biomedi- cal research. We employ new technologies to explore basic molecular mechanisms of cells and organisms in health and disease.
